Chakoor

Chitrali Cooking

Chakoor or pheasant used to be hunted by falcons, but nowadays this tradition is restricted and is declining fast. Still, Chitrali love hunting.

During autumn and winter, the best season for hunting chakoor, my friend used to come back home every evening, eyes gleaming and boasted his game. The first chakoor of the season was given to his daughter so that she will bear a son, but after that, I used to have a share of this tasty bird.

The most delicious way of cooking is just roasting, only with salt added. Oh I love it!

The photo you see here is a very very rich breakfast that I had one day. Roasted chakoor at the center with fried eggs, parata and milk tea. You really get fat.
